According to Deadline, Paramount has made a deal with F. Gary Gray to team with Hasbro to develop to direct MASK; based on the ’80s Kenner action figures and the animated series. MASK is an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, a task force led by Matt Trakker who battle the criminal organization VENOM. The film will be produced by Hasbro, and F Gary Gray and they are moving quickly to set a writer to create a contemporary take that Deadline says will come with a “youth empowerment angle.”
Announced late Tuesday night is word that xXx 4 is a go and Vin Diesel himself now owns the property and franchise. Diesel acquired the rights from Revolution Studios alongside The H Collective, which is now financing the follow-up to xXx: Return of Xander Cage, with that director, D.J. Caruso, on board to direct part 4.
In a report from the Wrap, Lynda Carter, who portrayed the iconic character of “Wonder Woman” in the 1970s TV series, is in talks to join Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 2. During an interview Wednesday on NBC’s Today with Megyn Kelly, Carter confirmed that she has been talking to director Patty Jenkins about appearing in the sequel.
According to THR, Edgar Ramirez, who starred as Gianni Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, has joined the production of Disney’s Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Emily Blunt. Jaume Collet-Serra, the filmmaker behind The Shallows and Non-Stop, will helm the project, which is set in the early 20th century and will take place in the Amazon jungle.
A new trailer for A24’s horror Hereditary has landed online. The horror/drama earned its own buzzworthy status early this year when it premiered at Sundance, followed by an appearance just last month at SXSW. It opens on June 8th.
