Part 1: Dealing with Anger & Bitterness
1 Samuel 16:7b (NLT) – The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NLT) – “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? 10 But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”
Matthew 15:7-8 (NLT) – You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) – Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT) – And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
Ephesians 4:31 (NLT) – Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
The Faces of Anger:
• Bitterness – A deep, simmering grudge or long-held resentment.
• Rage – A wild and passionate outburst of anger.
• Anger – An internal smoldering with deep roots of resentment.
• Harsh words – A public outcry shown as a total loss of control.
• Slander – The defamation of someone’s character.
1. Spewers (Rage, Harsh Words, Slander)
Proverbs 29:11 (NLT) – Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.
2. Stewers (Bitterness, Anger)
Ephesians 4:32 (NLT) – Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
