Lamentations is a book we don’t read or preach from very much. With one exception, we don’t sing its words or write them in greeting cards. A lament is a passionate expression of sorrow and this book is a collection of five poems in which Jeremiah does exactly that. Lamentations is a book of heartfelt grief that Jeremiah wrote after watching his beloved Jerusalem get sacked and burned by the Babylonians in 586BC. An unthinkable disaster had become a reality.
