I share my reflections on Netflix’s Bridgerton (four seasons completed, renewed for a fifth) as a 42-year-old, 2026 sex-positive educator who normally wouldn’t watch an 1800s high-society romance, but loved it and has watched it twice. I reflect on my seven-year journey as a sex club goer in Toronto, starting in April 2019 when I was shy, naive, living alone, coming out of a tough period, and reconnecting with my body after 10 years without sex. Over time I blossomed, learned I’m demisexual, and had formative experiences with men, couples, and friends, while tracking my sex life in an Excel spreadsheet. I describe how key friendships entered my life, especially my bestie in 2021, later other women, and DTF Tanya-alongside meeting my current partner. I share how uncomfortable I feel promoting my online learning business for the swinger lifestyle, even though I’m proud of the courses and believe they genuinely help people. After trying to respond to direct requests for advice in places like Reddit and Facebook groups, I got warnings for “self-promotion,” which made me feel like I’m holding the solution but I’m not allowed to share it unless I pay for ads.
