Today is January 29th, 3 days after the tragic event of your passing, your daughter Gigi, and 7 others.
Its unreal, its unreal to see that you are no longer here. Its unreal the heavy heart that I feel in knowing you’re gone. At 41, there was so much left of Kobe Bryant to achieve, and many more lives to impact. I did not have the privilege of meeting you, but I had the opportunity to be there during your jersey retirement in LA in 2017. I paid $1500 to sit 4 rows behind you and share that moment with you and thousand of others. What I saw was years of hard work, discipline, and passion. That moment cemented your greatness not only in the basketball community, but in my life.
Like most of us, I grew up watching you play, watching you dominate, watching you change everyone around you. Demanding everyone’s best. Indirectly, I felt that you demanded my best, Instilling the competitiveness, the mamba mentality, and the constant desire for achievement.
You became a storyteller, and you told the greatest story of all, your life and your legacy. The story of a legend who defined a mentality and a way of life. Who pushed people to not accept anything less than their best.
The level of respect that you had for the game and for life was returned by fans all over the country, all over the world even before your passing. Its remarkable to see that no one took you for granted while you were on this earth
To see what kind of father you’ve become and the priorities you had in place is just another level of depth to the man that you were.
I pray of strength and courage for Vanessa, your girls, and everyone personally impacted. I can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through.
Kobe, you are a true Master of Life, and I only wish that I had the opportunity to have you on the show.
