In a word, wow.

I have a strong love for books that are long and take you out of your own world for quite a while. This is one of them.

The hero in this book doesn't consider himself a hero at all. Just a man who occasionally gets caught up in momentous matters that threaten his life, and the lives of the people he loves.

One of the qualities of Sherer's writing that I happen to appreciate is his penchant for including details. Not obvious details upon which a plot might rely - such as the ubiquitous gardening tool that the hero picks up and puts away, only to be used later when he's attacked - but the little everyday details that, when combined, serve to paint the picture more fully.

It's not often I get to say this, but this is a complete story. You're not left hanging at the end, and there are no details that you have to wonder about. It's all there, mixed with the fear and dread of an enemy who's a little bit more nuts than you'd want.

I've read almost all of Sherer's work. I guarantee that if you read this, you'll want to hunt down his other books as well. Happy reading!

very good plot and good reading

very good plot and good reading. a lesson we can all lean even tho' it is a story trust no one but your self.i said that because of what was done to emmreson by his "friend" the book lso kept you guessing because while you are thinking it would be that suspect it was not but i guess it was like that so you would finish the book .since i read this book i have read two others by the same author and i had to finish them.i must say he is very at keeping you riveted

An interesting read

This was a book I enjoyed reading, some twists and turns. The plot had just enough mystery to it to keep you reading. The characters were interesting and had all the qualities that most of us would find in your friends. They have your back at all times even though they may not be happy with your decisions. A good book.
