Death Can't Take a Joke
The second book in the series featuring Janusz Kiszka and Detective Natalie Kershaw. Two seemingly violent deaths bring Kiska and Kershaw back together after a hiatus of two years. While Kiszka investigates the murder of a good friend, Kershaw looks into the suicide of an unidentified man. There is a common denominator, they just have to find it.
This is a convoluted and intricate mystery, police procedural, thriller. In my opinion it can be read as a standalone. There is enough informaton given as to the history, relationship of the two leading characters.
I enjoyed this, there are pockets of humour interwoven to cut through some of Kiska dourness that makes him a more grounded and believable character in ths book.
There is quite a surprising twist to the finale of this book. Good solid mystery, with well developed characters. Well worth a look at.
Favourite new series status
The second book in the Kiszka and Kershaw series set within the Polish community in London, DEATH CAN'T TAKE A JOKE has been a much anticipated arrival, which does not disappoint.
In the first book, WHERE THE DEVIL CAN'T GO, Lipska builds a terrific partnership between the distant, slightly standoffish, Polish PI Janusz Kiszka and an ambitious, young, British detective Natalie Kershaw.
