For the larger part of our history,“the American Dream” was to start a small local business, something like a bakery, grocery store, cleaners, clothing store/tailors, hotel, restaurant, hardware store, theater, gift store, travel agency, etc., and then not only run it for the rest of your life but make it profitable, create well paying local employment and be able to pass it along to your children and grandchildren. What happened to this American formula?
