We can tell what you value or tell what your treasure is by where your heart is
There are things you do that we can tell what you priorities are
- We can tell what you worship by what you give your life to, what you give your all for
- There are 3 things present in the expression of worship
1. Reverence: as a child of God, having a sense of reverence is important. Nothing should be revered over God
A deep sense of respect for God
2. Devotion: a deep sense of love and loyalty in the place of worship. Worship is seen is what you’re devoted to
3. Value: is a sense of importance for the object of worship.. you can’t value anything else more than him.
For worship to be complete, these 3 need to be present
- You don’t just worship God because they said you should, but because you see the importance of it.
- The devil has very smart tactics to deceive you, showing you that you can achieve what you want without God
He’s very subtle about it
- Whenever the devil tempts us he places you at the centre of it, to magnify yourself over God
He doesn’t put himself against God, he puts you against God
- Pride is to exalt one’s self. It goes beyond a sense of boastfulness, it is a cancer that makes you think you’re self-sufficient, makes you think that you’re the owner of yourself and your life.
- There are 2 ways self will express itself
1. Self-sufficiency
The idea that you are sufficient without God, that you can do it by yourself. That is extremely dangerous. God did not design us to live without him
2. Self obsession
A constant ungodly focus on yourself
I’m too small to be the center of my life
This is driven by the spirit of Self-sufficiency... this is where both high and low self-esteem come from.
Your identity needs to be centered in Christ, because if its centered around anything else, when that thing crumbles who will you be?
Focus on God and your low self-esteem will be dealt with, by him
What other people think about you doesn’t matter, the only thing that matters is what God thinks about you
