There are calls for Pharmac to increase access to Multiple Sclerosis drugs.
Many health professionals say sufferers should be able to access drugs earlier, and stay on them for longer.
Neurologist Dr Debbie Mason told Mike Hosking the funding criteria is outdated.
"Patients have to jump through quite a lot of hurdles to get onto these medications and these are all barriers to being able to get on effective treatments."
