Or locked away and hidden

We all have masks and costumes

That we wish we’d never worn

And lines that we have spoken

That we wish could be withdrawn

We all of us have characters

We’d strike clean from the page

And maybe big decisions

That we’re desperate to change

And we are very tempted

To pretend they don’t exist

To tell a perfect story

Where these things are all dismissed

But do not hide those chapters

They’re your story’s little scars

And they’re crucial to your tale

Though you might not think they are

See without them all your story

Isn’t quite the one you wrote

And we have to make mistakes

If we’re to learn what matters most

Yes, without them all your story

Will be hard to comprehend

Remember - some things only make sense

The final part of the series looks at the immense outrage “queue jumping” causes. Transcription: “Hey, everyone, final part of the Q series, and it's all about queue jumping.

Back to the queue to see the Queen's coffin.

Two beloved TV presenters, Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, were perceived as having jumped this queue, that is, not waited for their turn to go and see the Queen lying in state. And the outrage and backlash was so huge that they nearly lost their jobs, and it made the headlines of all the national newspapers under the term Queuegate. Philip Schofield was quoted later as saying, What are the two things you don't screw up?

If you push in, you are indeed crossing the line. At this point, you have to hope that the British sense of politeness wins over their desire to quietly dispose of your body in the River Thames. The good news is, politeness always wins.

A very Special Queue - the queue to visit the Queen lying in state. Transcription: “Welcome to part four, guys. This is all about a very special cue. The queen lying in state.

When the queen died, people formed a cue to visit the coffin. People were proud to have cued for 13 or 14 hours. You could watch the cue on British television.

There was 24-hour coverage of the cue. A person standing in that cue tweeted, This is what the Brits have been training for all their lives. The boss cue, the cue of all cues.

The superstar David Beckham also stood in that cue for 13 hours. And the British people loved him for it. And in the final episode now, you will hear about people who didn't wait in the cue.

Part 3 of The Queue looks at the history behind queuing. Transcription: “Welcome to part three of Great British Traditions, The Queue, History.

There is also a historical element to queues. In the Second World War, the British had to queue a great deal for rations. And sometimes, you know, first one in, last one in, not everybody always got it, so fairness was very important.

And occasionally, new queues would pop up and people would join them, not always knowing what they were getting, but they knew there was something that they could get, which maybe explains the point earlier about why on earth people would join a queue without knowing what the queue is for. But so there is actually a historical reason behind this love of fairness and this love of queuing, I think, which is an interesting point. End of part 3”

Part 2 of the British Love of Queuing - I try to give you all an answer to “Why?” Transcription: “Part 2 Great British Queuing So, why do they love to queue so much?

Well, I think there are lots of reasons, but one of them is definitely national pride. The British went on holiday somewhere, for example, queue for a ski lift or something like that. Tend to take pride in their ability to be able to form an orderly queue and stick to it.

And look down their noses a little bit at people that do not follow these rules, which seem to be respectable and decent. So, yeah, that's one point. Another point is, if you have ever been in a British queue, you will know it is a bonding experience.

My dad loved to queue. It was like old fashioned networking because you all got to stand together and you started chatting and you moaned about the queue together and how long it was taking. So there's also that element too.

It's a bonding experience, for sure, with fellow queuers. And it's truly democratic. And this is a really important point.

The English love fairness and the feeling that it's fair. First one in, first one out. Second one in, second one out.

This is very, very important to, I think, the Brits, that it doesn't matter who you are, you wait your turn. End of part two.”
