Deborah Kaplan is a bad ass. A true Hollywood veteran writer and director. And how cool! This is the 20th anniversary of “Can’t Hardly Wait”. I’m talking teen-cinema in all of it’s glory. So, what does it take to be able to tap into the teen zeitgeist of the time – decade after decade? Tune in and find out! With her partner Harry Elfont, Deborahcreated Liza On Demand starring the mega-talent Liza Koshy, on YouTube Originals and it’s totally brilliant. Last year I was hooked on MTV’s Mary and Jane about two Eagle Rock pot delivery girls - and oh, you’ll hear about producer Snoop Dogg’s preferred craft service spread of choice (you can smoke it). She’s a single mom, a working boss lady and my beautiful and aspirational expander. Deb is also the funniest person on IG and oh, she can cook like nobody’s biz. But that’s a side note.  @deborahkaplan  FRESH FROM IMDB where I do all my best stalking! It’s prob out dated and mostly wrong but you’ll get the idea. Writer/director Deborah Kaplan met partner, writer/director Harry Elfont, at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts' prestigious film school. In a strange coincidence, they discovered that their parents were friends and that they both attended neighboring high schools in Philadelphia. Kaplan had spent time abroad in high school at a film production program at Oxford University in England, UK. Kaplan relocated to Los Angeles and was working behind the scenes in the movie business. When Elfont headed to California after college, they joined forces and crafted "The Family Way", a romantic comedy that was purchased by Can't Hardly Wait (1998) producer Jenno Topping, during her stint at The Ladd Company. The writing duo continued working with Topping, writing A Very Brady Sequel(1996). Kaplan and Elfont also lent their talents as contributing writers to Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996) and Jingle All the Way (1996). In her spare time, Kaplan enjoys kick-boxing, photography, and hiking with her Mongolian Ferret Hound. Can't Hardly Wait (1998) was both Kaplan and Elfont's directorial debut.
