Jesus’ parable of the unforgiving servant reminds us that we are far more sinful than we realize, carrying an insurmountable debt we could never repay. Yet through Christ, God forgives us fully and freely. Because we are recipients of such mercy, we are called to extend forgiveness to others. Unforgiveness not only contradicts the gospel but also poisons our relationships and hearts. True discipleship means both facing our debt and finding joy in God’s grace, while freely forgiving others as we have been forgiven.
