Have you ever had a friend who had an issue or problem with a mutual person? Or perhaps you were the person with an issue with someone - either way, when issues arise, we often want our family and/or friends to take our side - to stand in solidarity with us. In today's reading, a Canaanite woman (who was viewed as a despised heathen by the Jews) goes to Jesus for help. Although Jesus seemingly responds in the way His "people" expected at first, He goes on to help this woman, showing us that Christ doesn't take any "sides" when it comes to people who earnestly seek and call on His name - and neither should we!
