Today I'm diving into Louis Warren's masterpiece God's Red Son, which goes deep into the Ghost Dance Religion, a messianic and millenarian religion received in the visions of a Native American Prophet named Wovoka. The visions were beautiful, practical, challenging, and hopeful all at once. The Messiah wanted his people to know that he would one day return and reign in a paradise of plenty and peace. But in order for that to occur, the people needed to practice peace, honesty, and hard work. And they needed to remember Him in ritual and worship.
