Simeon and Anna

Simeon. Anna. Simeon had been divinely guided to the temple; Anna was always there. But they came together in that magical and mysterious moment, amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown Jerusalem, in the chaos of the Temple, they huddled together around a father, mother, and a newborn baby. Simeon prepares Mary for the grief that she will suffer. And as Simeon speaks I can imagine him looking around the temple at all the people milling around. He has been here often and knows many of these folks. And he wonders, "what will their reaction to this Jesus be? Will they accept Jesus or will they reject Jesus?" Will they embrace Christ or will they walk on by? What about us? Today you and I have the same choice.
