The season of Advent is, at its heart, a season of waiting – of hopeful anticipation in the dark. It is the Church’s way of acknowledging that not everything is as it should be, yet still believing that God is coming near. Long before twinkling lights filled our neighborhoods, people of faith lit candles in the shadows, trusting that Light would return. Advent invites us to pause. To breathe. To remember that God’s first move toward us was not through spectacle or power…but through light – gentle, steady, persistent light that still pierces every darkness. This year, as we journey through Advent together, we’ll return to that promise. Each week, we’ll reflect on what it means for Christ to be the Light of the World – light that reveals, light that guides, light that warms, and light that never fades. And we’ll ask how that same light might shine through us…illuminating our homes, our relationships, and even the corners of our hearts that have forgotten how to hope. Because the story of Christmas is not just that Light came once. It’s that Light keeps coming still. “In The Wanting” based on the scripture from Matthew 2:1-8.
