"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).
This is Paul’s prayer for the church at Rome as he concludes his equipping letter to them. He reminds them, and us, of several key points.God alone is the source of our hope. His mercies are new every morning. Trusting Him—the changeless one—and His unfailing love and great faithfulness will fill us with His joy and peace. Overflowing, confident hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit, will be ours, even in the midst of sorrow, grief, loss, and uncertainty.
This reminds me to stop and ask where my focus is—on the
circumstances and people around me or on the God of hope? Cling to the hope God has for you. He is who He says He is and always keeps His promises. Cast every care on Him and remember that He cares for you. Invite others to pray with you and for you. Pray His Word for yourself
and others.
