Have you ever organized a space, only to find yourself dealing with the exact same mess a few weeks later? Maybe you've bought the bins, rearranged the shelves, or tried a new organizing system...but somehow, the space still isn't working.
Here's the thing: You cannot buy enough bins to make an overflowing house feel spacious.
In this episode of the podcast, we're talking about why organizing isn't always the answer and how having more stuff than your space can reasonably hold might be costing you time, money, energy...and maybe even your sanity. We'll explore the difference between organizing and decluttering, why we sometimes find ourselves rearranging the same problem over and over (and over) again, and how to recognize when a space needs a little breathing room.
And here's some good news: decluttering doesn't have to mean getting rid of everything! Sometimes it's simply about figuring out what belongs in a space and what needs to find its way back home.
You don't need a perfectly organized house. You need a home that works for YOU and makes everyday life a little easier.

What if the piles of clutter that keep showing up around your house aren't actually the problem? What if they're trying to tell you something?
In this episode of the podcast, we're looking at our homes a little differently. Instead of constantly fighting the same clutter, what if we started paying attention to the patterns: where it collects, why it ends up there, and what those patterns might be telling us...
Here's the thing, your home doesn't need to work the way you think it should...it needs to work for the people actually living in it.
So before you tackle that same pile of clutter for the 73rd time, take a minute to listen to what your house might be telling you.

This week on the Declutter 360 Podcast, I have a very special guest joining me: my 12-year-old son, Sam!
We're taking the conversation straight into his bedroom (literally, that's where we recorded!) to talk about organizing, clutter, and what keeping a room clean looks like from a kid's perspective.
And let me tell you, he did NOT hold back!
We talk about what Sam considers "junk" (spoiler alert: we don't necessarily agree), how clutter happens in his room, and why some things that might not seem important to me are actually really important to him.
We also get into the differences between what parents and kids consider a "clean room," why the systems we think should work don't always work for our kids, and what happens when we stop insisting on doing things our way and start asking what might make things easier for them.
Along the way, Sam shares some helpful insights into how parents can communicate expectations, what we might not understand about our kids, and even calls me out on a few of my own messes. (Fair enough, kiddo. Fair enough.)
This conversation reminded me that sometimes the most helpful thing we can do isn't come up with another organizing system or give another reminder.
Sometimes it's simply to listen.

Just because an organizing system works for you doesn't mean it's going to work for everyone else in your house. And when it comes to our kids? Sometimes the system we think should make things easier is actually creating more work--for them AND for us.
In this episode, we're talking about the difference between the systems we use in shared family spaces and the systems we create for our kids' personal spaces. Because while there absolutely can (and should!) be expectations for how your household functions, your child's room can also be an opportunity to pay attention to how their brain naturally works.
Instead of getting stuck on how we think something should be done, what happens when we ask questions about the system? Sometimes a tiny change is all it takes to remove the pain point that has been making a system fail over and over again.
And that will lead us perfectly into next week's episode...listen in to get a little preview of that. You won't want to miss it!

Have you ever caught yourself saying, "But I've always done it that way"?
Maybe it's the way you organize your kitchen, tackle the laundry, or manage your family's daily routines. Sometimes we keep doing things a certain way simply because that's how we've always done them. But what happens when those systems stop working for us?
In this episode of the Declutter 360 Podcast, we're talking about the habits, routines, and organizing systems we hold onto without ever stopping to question whether they still make sense for our lives today.
We'll explore why we get so attached to familiar ways of doing things, how our homes and routines can evolve as our lives change, why the "right" way to organize isn't necessarily the way you've always done it and even how to give yourself permission to try something different.
And I've got a little challenge for you this week that might just change the way you look at your home.
Because sometimes creating a home that works better for you starts with asking one simple question: Why?

What does self-care actually look like?
For the longest time, I rolled my eyes a little at the traditional idea of "self-care." Face masks, massages, fancy lotions, bubble baths...none of that felt like what I needed when I needed to take care of myself. Then I had a conversation that changed my entire perspective: MY version of self-care doesn't have to be YOUR version of self-care.
In this episode, I'm sharing that little mindset shift AND looking at self-care through the lens of a professional organizer. Because sometimes we aren't actually practicing self-care...we're just hanging out in the self-care adjacent space. That being said, the goal isn't to do self-care the "right" way. It's to know yourself well enough to recognize what you need, and give yourself permission to let go of the things that don't actually serve you. And if you need a framework for figuring that out...I'm sharing a super simple one to help you do just that.

Holiday decor has a sneaky way of multiplying year after year, and before you know it, you've brought home new decor without even remembering everything you already have tucked away.
In this episode, I'm talking about how to manage your holiday decor before, during, and after the season. And no, you won't find ANY recommendations for which bins to buy to manage the growing surplus. You don't need more bins...or a bigger basement to store them...you need (you guessed it) a SYSTEM!
So before you do anything drastic like open up a Christmas boutique from your basement, listen in to see how you can make decorating easier moving forward. Because the goal isn't less holiday magic, it's MORE magic with a whole lot less clutter.
