In this first guest episode, Katy welcomes AJ Johnson, queer mental health clinician and friend to explore mental health. We explore why the biomedical model of mental healthcare is outdated and embedded in supremecist, capitalist culture that views the individual as the problem, and how instead, looking at things through an intersectional, relational and trauma informed lens whilst taking into account social determinants of health and the role of systemic oppression is exactly what's needed to help people move away from blaming themselves, and approaching their mental wellbeing from a place of loving forgiveness.
