Kingdom Reformation with Glenn Bleakney

Deep Dive Discussion: Moving Beyond Motivation to Miracles

Listen Later

In my years of ministry, I've witnessed a subtle but significant shift in how we approach Christian leadership and church growth. While our intentions have been noble—seeking to make the Gospel relevant and accessible—we've inadvertently strayed from the powerful, Spirit-driven ministry that Jesus modeled and the early church demonstrated. Today, I want to address this drift and call us back to the authentic, transformative power of the Kingdom.

The Modern Ministry Dilemma

As I travel and speak in churches across the globe, I've observed a concerning trend. Many of our pulpits have become platforms for motivational speaking, where the deep truths of God's Word are often reduced to self-help principles and practical life advice. While there's nothing inherently wrong with helping people navigate life's challenges, we must ask ourselves: Have we unknowingly substituted human wisdom for divine power?

The metrics we use to measure success tell a revealing story. We've become fixated on what I call the "three Bs"—bodies, buildings, and budgets. Churches are evaluated based on attendance figures, facility size, and financial statements. But I must ask: Is this truly the measure of Kingdom impact that Jesus intended?
