Dead and Buried with Christ

This sermon by Pastor (Dr) W. F. Kumuyi, centres on the Christian belief of being dead and buried with Christ, primarily referencing Romans 6:3-12. It explains that Christ's death was a vicarious sacrifice planned by God before creation, serving as a propitiation for the sins of the world. Through identification with Christ's death, believers are freed from the dominion of sin and self, leading to a new life lived for God. The message underscores that this transformation facilitates purposeful usefulness and ultimately leads to eternal rewards.

Identification with Christ

Believers are spiritually united with Christ in His Death and Resurrection, symbolised through baptism, which signifies being dead to sin and alive to God.

Vicarious Death

Christ's death was preordained and serves as a propitiation for humanity's sins, fulfilling God's plan for salvation established before the world's foundation.

Purposeful Death for All

Christ's sacrifice was intended for all people, allowing them to be reconciled to God and live righteously, thus encouraging believers to embrace their new identity in Him.

Deadness to Sin

Believers are called to be dead to sin and self, living instead for God, which transforms their lives and aligns them with His will.

Harvest from Death

Just as a seed must die to produce fruit, believers must allow their old selves to die to bear spiritual fruit and serve God effectively.

Eternal Rewards for Service

Those who serve Christ faithfully will be honoured by God, receiving eternal rewards in heaven, reinforcing the importance of dedicating one's life to God's purpose.
