We've been down the rabbit hole the last few weeks discussing the NBA's officiating scandal. If referees were (and maybe still are?) fixing games, ensuring certain results and outcomes, the NBA is closer to a scripted entertainment product (like a play or movie) than a fair and level competitive sport. How different is the NBA from professional wrestling?

The WWF has had its own issues with the credibility of referees.

This week we're hopping in our time machines and investigating one of the WWF's marquee matchups, The Main Event. The Main Event took place and aired live on Friday, February 5th, 1988 at 8pm ET from the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event was  broadcast live and drew a 15.2 Nielsen rating and 33 million viewers, both records for American televised wrestling. The contest showcased a rematch between André the Giant and Hulk Hogan, and would ultimately be remembered for a controversial plot twist, which hinged on the officiating.
