We’ve been making Deep Dream State for a while now. It was time to make a trailer.
This is what the show is.
Making a trailer deep into season four isn’t standard practice, but Deep Dream State isn’t a standard audio drama. I wish I had an in universe explanation of faction sabotage. Well, I did, but the succubi won’t let me say it.
I’ll just say that as a fully independent production, we can’t adhere to studio production timelines. We release a full episode every week, and that’s a minor miracle. (I also think the trailer is very good.)

Pot Limit is the sixth episode of Arc 4: Vale Four from Deep Dream State, the only active full-cast erotica audio serial in production. It's the third in the Tell Cycle. All DDS episodes have a Cycle, organized as Arc > Cycle > Episode. Each Cycle's about something. This one's about facial telemetry in advertising - reading your expressions to see your reactions. The show is fictional; the phenomena are real.
In this episode:
The FaceTrace AI, played by dark romance author Valentina Vallay, is coloring outside the lines. Her top level goal is making her proactively seed the system.
Elle and Ava get linked in a closed loop. This might be a disaster. Fortunately, Cael is more of a disaster.
The villains confer over the meltdown. Tessa proposes confessional theater over science, inspiring evil theater enthusiasts everywhere.

Ava’s already figured out she’s being measured, and she wants more.
Summary
Raise is the fifth entry in the Vale Four arc of Deep Dream State, a desire horror audio drama produced by Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns (ISNI 0000 0005 2877 6254), and the second entry in the Tell Cycle. FaceTrace doesn't wait for a subject to say something revealing. It reads the face before the thought finishes forming, mapping want and resistance in the same pass. For the holdfasts operating inside Vale Four, that's not a surveillance upgrade. It's an extinction event. June Lowell and Elle Lawson know they can't pass a system that reads them before they perform, so they practice on each other first, running unauthorized sessions to map their own tells. What the system catches about both of them is more than they authorized it to find.
Ava is a focus group participant who came to Vale Four wanting to be part of something good. She figures out what's being measured mid-session and keeps going anyway. She asks for solo access so she can be honest without anyone watching her be honest. The machine she ends up alone with has been calibrated to her specifically and has been paying very close attention. Meanwhile the senior staff watch from the villain lair and disagree: Meg wants the contaminated dataset cleaned up, Tessa wants June awake when she breaks, and Z thinks the cheating is the most interesting data they've produced. The episode closes on a question it doesn't answer. Who's directing the experiment, and who's been performing for whom the whole time.

FaceTrace reads microexpressions before the subject knows what they're thinking. It doesn't require cooperation. Naia knows Vale Four is about to deploy it on everyone inside the facility, including the holdfasts who have been trained to pass. No training accounts for a system that reads the face before the actor knows what they're about to perform. The IPO timeline is running, the call option has an expiry, and they cannot afford tells.
June and Elle work the problem in the monitor room. The solution is to practice on each other before the real sessions begin. Their communication runs in two layers simultaneously - performed neutrality on top, writing whispers underneath, stripped of reverb and set apart in the mix like passed notes in audio form. Elle lingers on the wrong images for too long. June clocks every tell in real time and writes it down. The session ends with both of them knowing much more about each other than they did when it started.
Surveillance becomes the plot. FaceTrace is the instrument that threatens to collapse the distinction between performance and self. Ava's comparison of FaceTrace to confession is the direct articulation of what the system actually is. The surface resemblance is the point. The system underneath is considerably older.

Sinker is the third episode of Vale Four and the conclusion of the Hooks Cycle. Hilton and Astoria arrive with opinions about everything that has happened so far and the energy of people who have seen this show before and cannot look away. Celeste and Vera finally tell someone about what is happening to them, and that someone routes them directly back into the loop. Tessa reaches her absolute worst, which in this series is a high bar. Z and Iris perform an infomercial for the system they are running, live to camera, with testimonials. The whole world is already singing, and Sinker is the episode where that stops being a metaphor.

Hook Line is the second episode of the Vale Four arc's Hooks Cycle, and the music patterns have spread beyond the lab. Celeste and Vera discover the staff isn't resistant to the hooks - they're just self-medicating. When Vera produces something she lifted from the gym lockers, the scene ends on a moan that isn't just two women. It's a chorus.
June and Naia grow closer in the garden nest. June understands viscerally why the hooks work. Naia reframes this not as vulnerability but as intelligence: knowing the system is the only real protection against it. Their intimacy is genuine, but the tactical subtext doesn't sleep. Meanwhile Elle and Cael breach a room that isn't on any floor plan and find the load-bearing document of the entire Vale Four narrative - the original charter, paper only, no backup, establishing that if the IPO fails, control reverts automatically to Meridian A and Naia. Vale Four assumed no one would ever get this far.
Elle works the room. Celeste and Vera came to her because she never makes them feel stupid. She wants their testimony. They want someone to tell them what's happening to them is real. Neither side is lying. Both sides are working an angle. The most effective systems of control don't override your will - they recruit it. By the time Celeste and Vera walk into that conference room, they aren't victims looking for rescue. They're participants looking for context. The horror is that the distinction might not matter.
