Do you feel guilty every time you try to rest? Do you feel validated only when you work? In this episode, we're going to be talking about rest from God's perspective. I heard this said by Melody Alisa in a recent video she uploaded on YouTube, "The thing you're worried about, have you prayed about it?" It was such a revelation to me because despite Philippians 4:6 existing, I hardly prayed about the thing that I was anxious about. So, in my anxiety and fear I was choosing not to have faith and trust God. God made me realize that part of letting go is simply telling God about your worry. Through this episode, I hope you can learn how to let go of your worry, place it in God's hands, and trust God.

Have you ever thought to yourself "I wish I was just like him/her"? If you have then this is the perfect episode for you. Comparison can be crippling and it can put you inside a tiny box of possibilities. God doesn't want you to give up before you even start because you believe someone else is better, He wants you to free yourself from that mentality so you can discover who He purposed for you to be and it definitely isn't being someone that has absolutely no confidence in themselves or God. The enemy wants to get you to a point where you don't have faith because he knows that faith causes God to do something in your life. This one line in this beautiful song is a reminder that though we may go through different seasons, good and bad, God remains the same. To know that even if our lives go up or down we have something (God) that remains constant in our lives, I believe is something that everybody needs right now. An article written by Dr.  Pam Morrison helped me to better name these seasons and give quality information on each one. 

Loving God can be hard when you've just given your life to Christ but it's not impossible. God can become the one being we love more than anything in this world, not only because we are commanded to but because we truly desire to. It takes time. Just like we spend a lot of time developing a romantic relationship or a friendship with someone, we need to spend time developing a beautiful and loving relationship with God. But how do we do that? The past isn't always pretty and we may sometimes do everything in our power to forget all the bad but...it wasn't all bad, right? There are things that God has done for you in the past such as promises that He kept, comfort and peace that He gave us in the midst of struggles and pain, and so much more. Let's take a moment to look back and thank God for all that He has done and draw strength from it to have hope for the future and thank God for the growth because honestly, you're not the same person you used to be...you're so much better! So, let's take a trip down memory lane and give God all the glory He deserves for never leaving us in our pain, our mistakes, and our short-comings. 

Welcome to the very first episode of the Deeper Waters podcast. Before we get into any other topic that we could discuss, I wanted the first episode to be about Jesus Christ, the main reason for this podcast. It's not so easy to listen to and understand messages about someone you hardly know so this episode introduces you to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
