Bristol upstarts Ill Truth and Defex are at the controls for the next instalment on Ulterior Motive’s Guidance Music with their Roadkill EP.
The young duo that makes up Ill Truth have been turning heads all the way round for the last year, with their superbly executed blend of powerful yet classy tracks. They link up here with fellow West Country compatriot and former drummer, Defex. Their debut release for Guidance furthers strengthens their discography of weighty dance floor funk, with the producers all playing to their strengths and bringing forth four cuts of tightly produced and concise contemporary Drum & Bass.
Featuring two collaborations from the trio, EP opener ‘Roadkill’ stops the listener in their tracks, whilst ‘Longout’ will have the rave moving with its upfront and powerful hook. ‘Da-Da’ sees Ill Truth step out for a solo number, a master class in producing modern Techstep with depth and flavour. The EP is wrapped up with Defex taking his turn to show his individual flair on ‘Digital Style’, bringing classic breaks and bold bass hooks into one succinct package.
Guidance Music is digging up the gems from every corner of the scene and this Roadkill EP from Ill Truth and Defex is just another example. Get ready.
