Our preaching text takes us to a baby shower up in the hills of Judea, where Mary and Elizabether are celebrating. Mary, a young mother surrounded by challenges and a vague future, is greeted by Elizabeth, a "very old" mother (Luke's words) facing her own obstacles and wonder. For all that they have against them and waiting for them, in this moment, they are filled with holy joy.
