Introducing RCMP Officer and Cancer Survivor Michael Jaszczyszyn
Michael is the one and only man we know who did everything in his power to miraculously survive optic nerve glioma cancer. He also put his life and reputation on the line by doing whatever it took to fight for his rightful job back as Constable for the RCMP; currently, Michael is now an acting corporal at the Stony Plain Detatchment.
Fighting for his rightful place back as Constable, Michael had to convince multiple high level decision makers to work for RCMP's frontline again... with only being able to see in one eye.
The people Michael had to convince were the following:
- RCMP National Medical Advisor - National Policy Centre - The Director General of Occupational Health and Safety
"I was more or less told no many many times by many people. Though there were two primary occasions when I was told no at the highest levels. The first was when I initially tried to get back after having met the basic standards. Then again after I made my submissions with all the cases I had. They still denied me and presented me with a paper as to why." - Michael
In this special "How To Survive" episode, Michael shares with us the amount of times he was denied the ability to work his dream job. He also share's his final courageous, daring shot at connecting the dots - how the result of his actions can lead to a well deserved victory if one has the patience and willpower to conquer through anything that comes in the way of their dreams.
