On June 29 and June 30, 2023, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) made a trio of rulings on Affirmative Action, Student Loans, and Religion, Free Speech, and Gay Rights which meant that moving forward, race could not be used as a factor in admissions, student loans debt will not be forgiven, and that despite a state law prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.
