Delaware Weather 3/7 Evening - Shower Showdown Rising

Listen Later

Good evening. Delaware. I'm Michael Nally.
Step outside this morning and you’ll feel that damp, misty air… classic early March fog blanketing the state. Currently 47 degrees, but that’s just the opening act. The real drama unfolds tonight as a warm front surges north, turning our quiet Saturday into a stormy Sunday.
Up north. Wilmington starts mild at 50 degrees tonight, but temperatures rise overnight—hitting 57 by dawn. Showers and thunderstorms roll in after 9 P.M., with a. Sunday stays unsettled: highs near 67, but rain lingers until afternoon. The silver lining? Clearing skies by Sunday night, with lows dipping to 41.
Central Delaware gets the brunt of the storm. Dover sees thunderstorms likely by midnight, with gusty southwest winds at 10 to 15 miles an hour. Sunday’s high of 68 feels almost summer-like… until the cold front sweeps through, triggering more storms by afternoon. Then, a sharp cooldown: lows Sunday night fall to 42.
Down south, the beaches stay cooler but wetter. Lewes sits at 48 degrees tonight, with fog giving way to thunderstorms by sunrise. Sunday’s high struggles to 60, but the real story is the wind—15 miles an hour gusts—and an a chance of storms. By Sunday night, it’s back to 42 degrees, with lingering drizzle.
Looking ahead. Monday brings sunshine and a brief respite—highs in the 60s statewide. But Tuesday? The warmth explodes: 74 up north, 73 in Dover. And 58 at the beaches. Then, another storm system arrives Thursday, with thunderstorms and a wild temperature swing—highs in the 60s plummeting to freezing overnight.
Today’s fog is just the appetizer. Tonight’s storms and Sunday’s cooldown are the main event. But hang on—spring’s warmth is right around the corner. We’re gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight each day. And the spring equinox is just 13 days away.
See you tomorrow.
