Daniel continues to rise in prominence under the new King Darius. But an edict is issued that forbids him to pray to the LORD. Daniel continues his regular prayer times and this lands him in lion's den. But the Lord protects his servant from the hungry lions and King Darius ends up praising the living God who "delivers and rescues." The living God delivers us from the pit of death and will one day raise us to everlasting life, just as he raised his eternal Son.
