Deliverance isn’t just something God does for us — it’s something He does through us. When Jesus taught us to pray, “Deliver us from evil,” He wasn’t inviting passivity but participation. Jesus came proclaiming freedom for the captives and breaking the chains of sin, fear, and oppression — and He calls His followers to do the same. In a world still bound by addiction, anxiety, injustice, and spiritual darkness, the prayer for deliverance becomes our commissioning.

And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
