Democratic Republic of Congo’s Inga 3 project

As South Africa is battling to deal with its energy crisis with government coming up with different options which include nuclear energy. But interestingly, now there is the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Inga 3 project which the country is being called upon not to go ahead with as it may be too expensive. The African women Unite against Destructive Resource Extraction and International Rivers- two non-profit organisations - argue that the foreign-owned hydropower would cost R400 million more per annum compared to domestic power.
