Jesus declares His mission: to bring good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, sight for the blind, and release for the captive. These words were not just spoken—they were embodied in His life and ministry. The gospel is not only something we proclaim, but something we live. What does it mean to demonstrate the gospel in both word and deed, so that our lives echo the good news of Jesus? If the message of Christ is to be believed, we must be the salt and the light to the world.

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19  to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]
