Democrats are holding up another stimulus bill that will help small businesses. The Paycheck Protection Program is out of money so the government is trying to promptly put out another package to fund the program, but the Democrats are holding it up. Why? Because they want to add funds for hospitals and local governments. But those aren’t small businesses. One complaint about the PPP is that most of the funds have gone to construction and manufacturing. There is a real need for hospitality and other small businesses. But if the Democrats add hospitals and local governments, you know that those will get priority over small businesses. They need to do a separate package to accomplish what they want. But they are strong-arming the Republicans with threats of not approving their bill to get what they want. Shameful.
