Denise Adler sets out to create portraits and dreamscapes that express the mythic and legendary. Representative of the artist’s personal reaction to the world around her, in empathy, apprehension or disbelief. Both personal and archetypical these pieces are memorializing a moment in time. Her most recent solo show “In Quintessence” examined identity and it’s reflection in contemporary culture-the multifaceted connections between the internal; external and virtual, distilled into hybrid creations that illustrate a deeper sense of social reality.
Pictor is an affiliate gallery to the innovative virtual platform ArtSpeak Collective, which was created for emerging and established artists in 2020 as a response to the global coronavirus. In a single year, ArtSpeak Collective produced six online events, earned 500 subscribers, logged 1,500 viewers on YouTube, and worked with 55 artists. As physical gallery space reopened in New York City, the move to create Pictor was a natural one.
Located in the Landmark Arts Building in Chelsea, Manhattan, Pictor sponsors monthly group and solo exhibitions, discussion groups and other programs to foster a more intimate and community-building experience within the New York gallery scene.
