Welcome to a new edition of the Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino series. In this episode, we talk with author, mentor, and recovery advocate Dennis Quinn — also known as "DJ." With a life rooted in service, DJ has been a three-time Big Brothers/Big Sisters volunteer and an active mentor in juvenile court programs, passionately advocating for the needs of at-risk youth.
A native of Montana and the second oldest of nine children, Dennis now resides in Gig Harbor, Washington, following rewarding careers as a flight attendant and real estate agent. After retiring in 2023, he turned his focus to storytelling and advocacy, publishing the powerful memoir Stick Figures: A Big Brother Remembers. The book chronicles his emotional 13-year journey with his “Little Brother” Mike, who later developed a serious mental illness.
Through writing and public speaking, Dennis is committed to honoring Mike’s legacy and raising awareness about the importance of mentorship and support for vulnerable children. This is an inspiring and heartfelt conversation you won’t want to miss.
