Denying Veterans, Where To Put Housing & Senator Shuts Up

Chapter 1:
-The federal government continues to deny veterans and their families service dogs, despite a government commissioned report done by Laval University showing the animals are effective in treating PTSD and related mental health issues.
Chapter 2:
-Last night, dozens of people attended a residents meeting where they voiced concerns about a construction for up to 60 units of supportive housing planned for downtown Cloverdale (corner 58th Avenue and 176A Street). The problem? The proposal will house people who have a history of homelessness and drug addiction (many of whom will likely be relocated from the recently shut down Whalley Strip), and many people claim there’s been a lack of public consultation. There are also concerns there’s are no nearby support services for people with drug/mental health problems.
Chapter 3:
-The former mayor of Vancouver-turned-Senator has quietly stepped down from one of the most influential positions in the Senate, the standing committee on internal economy and budgets - a position he’s held since 2015. Questions are now being raised about his involvement with the committee, and his position on the board of Great Canadian Gaming (a role he’s held since 2008), the company that owns BC’s infamous River Rock Casino, which is at the centre of the province’s money laundering scandal.
