Deprescribing #43 End of the Year Discussion, New Possibilities for Health

Listen Later

End of Year Deprescribing

This was a lighthearted interactive and fun discussion to talk about all the lies we have been told, and let's talk about what’s possible in health and healing and in the world. Let’s end the year with letting go of the lies - and opening up the possibilities.
Let’s talk about the Lies, Lies, and More Lies
We’ve been lied to all of our lives.
Starting with Santa Claus, many of our parents lied to us.
They told us there’s a man who lives in the North Pole who will give us presents if we are a good kid.
And the mixed messages…
They told us to not talk to strangers and don’t take candy from strangers… but then it’s ok to sit on this strange man Santa’s lap …. because he’s going to give you a present. Hmmm…
Let’s talk about Health
With our health, there’s also so many lies that are told. And if you believe the lies you can suffer with health conditions for years that can be easily treated. Or if you’re a healthcare practitioner, you can spend years learning about pharmaceutical drugs but miss out on the basics of health like nutrition.
We’ve learned lots of lies in pharmacy school that serve to keep patients sick:
You have to take this medication for the rest of your life.
Let’s “manage” your diabetes, but let's not talk about “reversing” diabetes.
Your condition is incurable.
Natural medicines are not FDA approved.
Alternative medicine doesn’t work.
There’s nothing else we can do.
My first book took me four years to write, and I finished it in 2012. I’ve been on this journey for a while now. Yet I’m still amazed at what we learn In Deprescribing. With the many guests we’ve had, there have been many times this past year where we learn about a health condition that has been healed, when I was taught there’s nothing that can help.
So for this Deprescribing, let’s talk about the lies we are leaving behind, and the different possibilities of health and healing that we have learned. Let’s talk about the limiting beliefs we grew up with, and how we’ve learned new possibilities to help with our health.
Let’s have a lighthearted fun discussion to end the year and start the new year of hope and new possibilities of healing.
