Derecho: The Mugshot☕️

Listen Later

Sometimes all it takes is a simple picture. After 8 days without power here in Iowa I found myself dodging LinkedIn. I was so drained and emotionally stressed that I could feel the pressure building up. After being racially profiled as a Spanish speaking person due to my skin tone I was pretty disappointed in a certain individual. He had lashed out in anger demanding I stop speaking entirely. (He isnt Spanish he’s Caucasian). Speaking english for 30mins then demanding a brown person to stop speaking in another language as if they aren’t comprehending english properly is disgraceful. Spanish people are beautifully talented and amazing individuals. That just isn’t my culture as I’m part black and part white. I’ve come too far to allow anything someone else says to upset me... I’m a human and not a robot so I needed some guidance. Where do I go? I look up my thought leaders on LinkedIn and re-listened to their stories over and over. There it was..another classic picture of Sara Blakely drinking out of a larger than life coffee mug. This mug read “don’t quit your day dream”... Well damn! In that moment it hit me that my focus is on my vision and this was simply a lesson along the ride. No one can define us or make us feel lesser than. Peoples judgements on us matter only when we accept them into our spirit. My spirit is reserved for dreams and purpose. We might not have power but we hold all of the power still. Thanks for rockin with me through the storm everyone. Still bringing the light even if the switch won’t actually work. Haha, stay blessed and thank you for allowing me to be Annoyingly Positive! Thank you to the phenomenal powerhouse Sara Blakely for the fabulously impactful mugshot! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/appSupport this podcast: https://anchor.fm/allie468/support
