UNIVERSAL MOTOWN RECORDS DEREK “BIG D” PEARSON has been upped to  VP/Urban Crossover Promotion. DEREK joined the label three years ago as  National Promotion Director and grew to Sr. National Promotion Director.  He will continue to oversea the rap department in his new position.  “Hard work pays off and I’m grateful that the senior staff as well as my  comrades and peers have acknowledge my efforts and consistency,” said  PEARSON. “Staying in tune with the times and keeping ahead of the curve  is key.” Prior to joining UNIVERSAL MOTOWN PEARSONS’s career path  included stops as National Dir./East Coast Mix Show Promotion for the  former MCA RECORDS and a similar position with WARNER BROS, RECORDS.
