In order to have the largest impact and to gain in competitivity, this collection of visual expressions has to be of high quality and above all coherent. In this design course we will concentrate on product and packaging design. Your first project in the design course will be to select a design subject that will be presented in the classroom with a group of 4 to 5 fellow students. Here you will find information about the topics that you can choose from and information for preparing your presentation. It also contains a document that your team will have to complete and bring with you in our first real class room. The various design presentation will allow you to obtain a background in design history and actual design themes. During the classes, your professor will link these topics with one another and place them in their historical context.

02 - The design presentation

Knowledge of cultural styling movements is indispensable for someone who likes to know more about product design. It is important to have knowledge and a feeling about what happened with previous artistic movements. Why did they become popular and why did they disappear? These preferences for aesthetics have a life-cycle. Knowing the past might help to foresee which style might last and which one is in a dangereous position of disappearing.
