Our guest is the Creative Director of Bud’s Goods & Provisions, a New England cannabis brand based in Worcester (were-stir), Massachusetts. She is responsible for bringing the creative vision of Bud’s Goods to life through all visual touchpoints, including the opening of three adult-use cannabis dispensaries in Massachusetts and the successful launch of two cannabis products – Lil’ Bud’s & Lil’ Jay’s.

Before Bud’s Goods, she worked in the Food & Beverage industry as a Design Manager for two international restaurant chains in New York City – Pret A Manger and Le Pain Quotidien and then eventually made it to Bud’s Goods. Then she would launch her own design consulting company. Bud's Goods is the creator of Lil’ Bud's, also known as "The People's Eighth." It’s filled with 3.5g of high-quality "popcorn" flower and she has Lil' Jay's, a pocket-sized metal tin containing ten 0.35g full flower pre-rolls. 

Our guest, Matt Morgan, has co-founded several cannabis companies including Bloom Dispensaries, Tryke companies, Reef Dispensaries, Ignite Cannabis Co, and Green Axis Capital. Now he is a Cannabis Industry Advisor and Co-Founder of the metaverse Cannaland.

Matt told Herb magazine that with the introduction of virtual reality and augmented reality, those experiences within Web3 aren’t so far off from a real-life shopping experience and it will feel just like “you’re in the dispensary like you’re in the cultivation.” Matt has built out a virtual token called Canna that can be used inside the virtual space and he said it “will operate similarly to the way that Mana operates inside Decentraland.” He would like for Canna will also eventually be accepted at real-life dispensaries saying it– 's “almost like Apple Pay inside the dispensary”.

While he says freelancers are great, he said “when it comes to building the visual identity of your business, it’s risky to rely on hourly freelancers and the instability that comes along with them.” 

Next, William mentioned failing to dial in his creative process and he said it’s important to go into design utilizing a proven creative process that ensures William's ideas are communicated and captured. The next mistake he mentions was creating a brand that is not unique or identifiable. He wrote the cannabis industry in particular has a bad history of trademark issues, but it’s also important to make sure your name is unique enough to show up in search results.

We welcome the founders of Sackville: Lana Van Brunt and Hayley Dineen. They both come into cannabis with experience in luxury product development, experiential marketing, and business development for companies ranging from Vivienne Westwood to VICE.

Lana has worked as a director at both VICE and ATTN: media groups. Sackville has been called a chic CBD brand that looks as good as they make them feel. They have created Sackville Studios, a multidisciplinary cannabis design, and production studio. They have worked on projects with Playboy, Cresco Labs, and Curaleaf. 

Our guest has a background in advertising, branding, creative development, and design strategy. He has been leading creative departments at some of the most prominent agencies in Europe and the US.
