Key Takeaways

When designing a "forever home" kitchen, remember to consider how your clients cook and entertain to make sure it fits their long-term lifestyle.

Don’t fear that central column; turn it into a design feature by adding cabinetry or shelving that enhances both function and style.

To maximise storage, opt for deep drawers for easy access, bi-fold doors for a smooth flow, and full-height wall cabinets that offer ample space without sacrificing good looks.

Best Moments

"We needed to be mindful that the cabinets that we were losing at the top on the wall that was being knocked down, we needed to make sure we added that storage elsewhere, just to make sure that we're optimising everything as much as possible because storage was one of the top elements that we needed to incorporate into this design, usable and functional storage."

"Always look at the worked up slab sizes, for instance. So I think it's usually like 1.5 meter deep by sort of three meters length way depending on which stone, if you go for ceramic, it's slightly smaller. You can also go for jumbo slabs, which are 3.3 usually they might be bigger now, but again, that usually determines the size of your island."

"You've got to be mindful that you need to be able to buy your sink, for instance, where you're standing and by your Hob. You need to be mindful that the indent on a plinth, which is at the bottom, is usually so you can pop your toes underneath it and not you don't want to be scuffing the moulded plinth everywhere."
