Also, Roger Evan's book "How to Read Music". Examine the details of each song and/or exercise from the key signature, phrasing, left hand, accidentals and dynamics. Composers use dynamics from soft to loud to indicate to the performer how their music is to sound.
Designate a specific time of day to sight read and play. Sight reading means reading the notes without playing. Pick a song you're working on or would like to learn. Believe in yourself. Begin each session with a positive mindset and dig in for at least 40 minutes. Over time progress will be yours and you'll be happy with the results.
