When God sees people hiding, he doesn't turn his back; he comes looking for them. It's the reason Jesus came to earth, to connect with us, make us whole, and give us peace with God and peace with others. Scripture says that the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love people. They go hand in hand. We must learn to live in relationships with God and others, to live as a community.
