In this tutorial we are going to look a little closer at what it takes to have a successful remodeling project. Good planning, careful designing and accurate workmanship will just about guarantee that your efforts will be rewarded with a bathroom you are proud of. And while you may be considering hiring a contractor for bathroom renovations, the more input and work you contribute to the project yourself, the more money you will save, and the smoother your project will progress. Meaning you can do a lot of the physical demolition, cleaning and prep work yourself and leave the more technical stuff such as plumbing or electrical to the experts if necessary.

This training series will guide you through a complete bathroom remodeling project from start to finish. Hopefully you have had the opportunity to go through Module 1 chapter 1. Now that you are familiar with a brief history of bathroom design you are now ready for an overview of the design process. In the first module we will present ideas and techniques for planning the overall design of your bath using your present bathroom layout as a jump off point for better usage and creative remodeling of the space.

In the next module we will dive even further into the more targeted bathroom design ideas such as choosing and planning your fixtures. Details are important if you are to create a professional looking bathing area, so we also cover finishing materials and accessories.

Who Will be Using Your Bath?

But for a lavatory to be effective it must actually meet the needs of the end user therefore we will not only look at the more common bathroom layouts for families and guest, it would also be beneficial to examine creating a bathroom for the physically inhibited such as children and older individuals. The chapter will be rounded off by finalizing the bath design process to create a blueprint that you or your contractor can follow and use as a guide for what needs to be done.
