Entrepreneurs need to get out of their own way and stop limiting their business’s growth, but it’s a struggle for so many to do that. That’s exactly where Amy Peltier found herself when she had to move across the country from her business. But Amy found amazing success despite being 3000 miles away and she’s letting you in on the keys to your own company’s growth. You’ll learn about the role processes play when you’re trying to get out of the business, what you should look for when you hire to expand the knowledge base, and how to establish a great culture.
- As the visionary in charge of your company, you need to remove yourself from the day-to-day processes and tasks so you can focus on working on the company. If you don’t remove yourself, you can actually hinder your company’s growth.
In order to grow, you cannot be the center of all of the knowledge in your business. Work on coaching up and mentoring your employees so they are able to run the processes that you have laid out and also develop as leaders within the company. It’s ok that you don’t know every little nuance of every aspect of your business, you wouldn’t have any time if you did. To make up for this, you need to hire people who do know the finer details of what they specialize in and can fill the knowledge gaps. When removing yourself from your business, think at the end of the day of everything you did that day. Of that, what could you have assigned to someone else. Who would you assign it to? What do you need to teach them so they can succeed in doing it?One of the keys to growing your business is to create processes that will allow the business to function, and even flourish, without constantly needing your direct involvement.Develop your processes so they are established as what is expected from all of your employees. This will become part of your company’s culture and in turn will be front of mind for your employees. When your employees show that they care and are really willing to go the extra mile for you and the company, you need to respond in kind and show that you also care about them and appreciate their efforts.- “To actually lead a company, you need to remove yourself from it, because if you're doing everything, it's just you, you just have a business with you, but when you remove yourself from it and you are able to empower your employees to do their job, that's when you're leading your company” - Amy Peltier
