The FDA and Deskins Candies are recalling a series of branded products including: Deskins Candies Peanut Butter Fudge, Deskins Candies Peanut Butter No-Bake, Deskins Candies Peanut Butter Pinwheel, and Deskins Candies Chocolate No-Bake.  These products are potentially contaminated with salmonella due to their manufacture with Smucker-Jif peanut butter.  This bacterium causes a serious and sometime fatal gastroenteritis and systemic infections in the very young, older persons, and those with weakened immune systems.  These candies were sold by: Merchants Distributor Inc Hickory, NC; Kroger Salem, VA; Grants Supermarkets in West Virginia and Virginia; and Goodsons Supermarkets in West Virginia.  Don’t consume these candies but return them to the place of purchase for a refund.  For more information, contact Deskins Candies at 1-304-324-1938.
