Desmond Meade inspired and led the movement that resulted in Amendment 4 getting on the ballot last November. The change to Florida’s Constitution asked Floridians to automatically restore felons’ right to vote after they’ve paid their debt to society rather than forcing them to wait years and then undergo a laborious bureaucratic process. Floridians approved it by a wide margin, and now 1.4 million men and women are able to once again participate in democracy at the voting booth.
